Editorial policy
Open City Briefing aims to make urban civic subjects clear, measured and useful. We distinguish general explanation from claims about a particular place, and we do not present civic information as a substitute for checking a current local process when that matters.
Accuracy and clarity
We take care with names, terms, dates and descriptions, and we check factual statements against reliable material before publication. Where a subject varies by location or is unsettled, we say so rather than implying a single rule. We explain distinctions that could otherwise mislead readers and avoid claims broader than the material supports.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader understanding, not to serve a partner's preferred conclusion. A partnership does not buy favourable coverage, and editorial material is kept distinct from material created for a partner. We will not imply endorsement of a product, service, institution or proposal.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a passage that needs important context, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and point at issue. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, update the text and make the correction clear to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner-supported material is labelled clearly where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI. When an illustration is AI-generated, we identify it as such and do not present it as documentary evidence.
A city is made in common
Shared places and public choices shape how a city feels to live in. We look closely at the arrangements, language and everyday details behind them.
